Welcome and Fireside Chat: “Why Separate Powers?: A Conceptual Introduction”

This year, the Harvard Federalist Society Chapter hosted the 43rd annual National Student Symposium at Harvard Law School. Symposium panels focused on fundamental questions about our nation’s constitutional structure and the allocation of power between the three branches of government, in keeping with the conference’s theme: Why Separate Powers? Harvard Professor Cass Sunstein and Judge Raymond Kethledge opened the symposium with a fireside chat exploring the conceptual question of why states choose to separate powers along with the relationship between the separation of powers and the rule of law.
