[Incident Report] The Weinstadt fire brigade was called to Strümpfelbacher Straße in the Endersbach district on Saturday evening for a hazardous materials incident. During cleaning work in a cold storage facility, the unintentional mixing of cleaning agents resulted in the formation of chlorine gas. Thanks to the quick thinking of the personnel present, who immediately closed the door to the cold storage room, no one was injured. Therefore, there was no danger to residents or the general public at any time. Due to the high toxicity of the gas, firefighters could only work while wearing full protective suits (chemical protective suits). To support the emergency responders from Weinstadt, the Winnenden and Backnang fire departments, which have specialized personnel and equipment for hazardous materials incidents, were alerted to the scene. Inside the building, they conducted measurements to determine the gas concentration and initiated initial measures to eliminate the hazardous material.
