Driving Around Meadowlands/ Ndofaya, Soweto, SA Housing

Meadowlands an area in Soweto was established in the 1950s, this is where black people were resettled after being forcefully removed from Sophiatown which was in the city (Johannesburg). Meadowlands is also known by the locals as “Ndofaya” affectionately so. From the dusty streets and no electricity to three and four roomed houses during the apartheid era Meadowlands now boasts with tarred streets and rebuilt bigger houses to malls. Like many other places in Soweto, Ndofaya’s economy is boosted by many micro and small businesses established by the locals themselves.
