It Got TENSE After Coventry Left it Late Against Leicester...

I headed to the Coventry Building Society Arena for the M69 Derby as league leaders Coventry City hosted Leicester City in a huge Championship clash. Coventry sat top of the table going into this one, while Leicester were 12th and chasing the play-offs making this a massive night for both sides. Before kick-off, I caught up with Coventry fans Alex, Craig, and Jack from Sky Blues Fan TV to talk about today’s game, the atmosphere, and the growing belief that Premier League football could be on the horizon next season. The mood around the ground was intense — both sets of fans letting each other know exactly how much this derby meant. On the pitch, it was Leicester who started the brighter. Just 10 minutes in, a slick passing move carved Coventry open and Jordan James was slipped through to finish calmly, sending the away end into delirium. 0–1 Leicester! The Foxes looked sharp throughout the first half and really should have doubled their lead, but Coventry managed to hang on and went into the break only one goal down. The second half was a completely different story. Coventry came flying out of the blocks and were rewarded when a fizzed ball into the box took a touch off Ellis Simms and found its way into the net. 1–1! The atmosphere absolutely exploded. From that moment, Coventry looked the more likely side. The noise inside the stadium was relentless, and with five minutes to go, the moment arrived. A brilliant piece of work from Sakamoto down the flank saw him pull the ball back perfectly for Haji Wright, who made no mistake and fired Coventry into a 2–1 lead! Absolute scenes in the home end! Coventry saw out the remaining minutes to secure a massive derby win at the top of the Championship. Tensions spilled over slightly outside the ground afterwards, with police keeping both sets of supporters apart — but thankfully nothing serious developed.
