Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra | Belur | Karnataka

The Hanuman Jayanti Shobha Yatra (procession) in Belur was celebrated with massive devotional fervor on Saturday, 13th December 2025. The procession passed through the street leading to Shri Chennakeshava Swamy Temple. We could experience the vibrant celebration, as we happened to stay in KSTDC Mayura Velapuri, Belur on that day. Hanuman Jayanti is a significant Hindu festival celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Hanuman. In North India, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on Chaitra Purnima. However, in Karnataka, it is observed on the Margashirsha Shukla Paksha Trayodashi, which was on 3rd December 2025. It is also called as 'Hanuman Vratham' in Kannada. As a part of Hanuman Jayanti festival, various events are organized by local communities or temple committees over a prolonged period. One of the highlights of this festival is the grand procession that takes place in various cities across Karnataka. Devotees gather in large numbers dressed in vibrant attire, carrying idols or images of Lord Hanuman adorned with flowers and garlands. The procession moves through the streets with great fervor and devotion. People from nearby villages also join the procession.
