A comparison of the basic parameters of a resistor, capacitor, and inductor is provided. These are considered passive electronic components. Active components include diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, and other semiconductor devices. Resistors are active power consumers. Capacitors and inductors consume reactive power. A capacitor stores energy in the electric field, while an inductor stores energy in the magnetic field. A resistor behaves similarly in both DC and AC circuits—it consumes active power. A capacitor in DC circuits is a high-resistance device, while in AC circuits, its resistance depends on the capacitance and frequency of the alternating current. An inductor in DC circuits is a jumper, while in AC circuits, its reactance is determined by its inductance and frequency. As the frequency of the alternating current increases, the resistance of an inductor increases, while that of a capacitor decreases.
