There is something unmistakable about a truly great Daniel Friederich guitar from this period. The way the notes blossom out of the instrument creates a regal, deeply expressive sound that is extraordinarily difficult to find elsewhere. This 1978 No. 476 is an exceptional example from Friederich’s golden era, featuring a glowing cedar top, Indian rosewood back and sides, laminated sides, and the original Fustero tuners. The trebles are endlessly lyrical, the basses are open and commanding, and the overall responsiveness of the guitar is simply addictive. One of those instruments that makes musical phrasing feel effortless.
