Supporting Southwest Virginia Nonprofits: GiveLocalNRV Giving Day with Lindsey Gleason-Reed

In this episode of Mountain Valor, we sit down with Lindsey Gleason-Reed, Assistant Director of the Community Foundation of the New River Valley (CFNRV). We dive into the upcoming 13th annual GiveLocalNRV Giving Day (running from noon June 24 to noon June 25), how it rallies support for over 130 local organizations, and the vital role collaborative philanthropy plays in tackling complex regional challenges like rural food insecurity and childcare access across our Southwest Virginia communities. Learn more or give back at givelocalnrv.org. Lindsey joined CFNRV in April 2022 with a strong background in communications and fundraising for mission-driven organizations. Her projects include communications, GiveLocalNRV Giving Day, fundraising, and coordinating workshops for local nonprofit leaders and community members. Prior to her work at the foundation, Lindsey spent more than eight years at Virginia Tech in Student Affairs Advancement and VT Engage: The Center for Leadership and Service Learning, focusing on communications, storytelling, and graphic design. She began her career at Accion, a global microfinance nonprofit, where she worked at the intersection of finance and social impact. Originally from Vermont, Lindsey graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a bachelor’s degree in international affairs and a minor in linguistics, and she spent a semester studying abroad in Accra, Ghana.
