Fortalecimento do acolhimento aos idosos na Cidade Ozanan inclui horta, pomar e trabalho voluntário
During his participation in the "Papo com Geraldo Rodrigues" videocast, broadcast Monday through Friday at 1 PM on the GRNEWS YouTube channel, Dilhermando Rodrigues Filho, president, spoke about the challenges faced by the institution and highlighted the importance of support from the population, public authorities, and volunteers to guarantee quality of life for the elderly residents. According to him, the institution is currently experiencing a period of hard work, but also of hope. "We are improving the physical conditions, the care provided, and offering more comfort to the elderly who live there," he stated. Public support is considered indispensable Dilhermando reinforced that the partnership with the municipality is essential to keep the services running. He explained that doctors from the JK neighborhood health center provide care within the institution itself twice a week, avoiding exhausting commutes for the elderly. In addition, the facility receives financial transfers and support with professionals for night shifts. "The institution cannot function without the help of the public authorities," he emphasized. The administrator also thanked parliamentarians who have already allocated resources to the entity and appealed for new parliamentary amendments to be sent, mainly for operating expenses. "Today, what we spend most on there is operating expenses," he emphasized. Campaigns and volunteers help maintain services According to Dilhermando, the solidarity of the population of Pará de Minas has been crucial in avoiding financial difficulties. Fundraising campaigns, donations of food, hygiene products, and support for the bazaar help keep the accounts balanced. "The population always embraces the campaigns. If it weren't for the donations, we would probably be in the red," he stated. He also highlighted the work of volunteers led by Flávio Medina, who carry out cleaning and revitalization actions in the space. Vegetable garden and orchard to be reactivated Among the new projects of Cidade Ozanan is the reactivation of the vegetable garden and orchard. The proposal will have the support of professors and students from the agronomy area of the Federal University of Viçosa, Florestal campus. The idea is to produce food for the elderly to consume on their own, reducing costs and creating new spaces for socializing. "All of this brings more comfort and leisure to them," he explained. The administrator also revealed that rural producers and local partners have already committed to donating seedlings and providing technical support to get the project off the ground.
