Bluefields Jamaica Needs Your Help
Six months after Hurricane Melissa, the community of Bluefields/Belmont in Westmoreland, Jamaica is struggling to recover. Bluefields was struck by the western wall of the hurricane and suffered sustained winds up to 190 miles per hour for seven hours. I spent about two hours visiting Bluefields in May as part of a research trip studying beach erosion sponsored by Missouri State University and Appalachian State University. This was my third research trip to Jamaica as the team videographer. I am an Emeritus Professor of Media & Journalism at Missouri State University (i.e. I'm retired).
