Vice President Gibran Rakabuming emphasized the importance of accelerating development in Papua, which must be carried out with speed and innovation so that the benefits are directly felt by the community. This was conveyed by the Vice President while chairing the Plenary Meeting of the Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development in Papua (BP3OKP) at the Kasuari Hall, Manokwari State Treasury Building, Manokwari Regency, West Papua, on Tuesday (November 4, 2025). The meeting was opened by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, representing Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tri Tito Karnavian. This activity follows up on President Prabowo Subianto's directive to accelerate development in Papua in a more concrete, measurable, and equitable manner. The President emphasized that Papua must be a national development priority by ensuring community welfare and the active involvement of Indigenous Papuans (OAP) in every government program. "Because there are now two institutions, I'm asking for twofold acceleration of development. Innovation in policy formulation must be twofold. The real benefits received by the community must be twofold," the Vice President emphasized. The Vice President added that the two new institutions, the BP3OKP (National Agency for the Acceleration of Development in Papua) and the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Development in Papua, are expected to strengthen cross-sector policy synergy. "These two institutions will be complementary, synergistic, and mutually reinforcing, and this demonstrates the President's strong commitment and concern for accelerating development in Papua," the Vice President said. Meanwhile, at the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk expressed her appreciation for the Vice President and Mrs. Selvi Gibran's presence in Papua. "It is an honor and a source of pride for the Papuan people in the six provinces of Papua, where the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, his wife, and his entourage are visiting," she said. The Plenary Meeting was also attended by several high-ranking officials from ministries and institutions, including West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan; Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Development in Papua Velix Vernando Wanggai; and Executive Committee members John Wempi Wetipo, Ignatius Yogo Triyono, Paulus Waterpauw, Ali Hamdan Bogra, Gracia Josaphat Jobel Mambrasar, Yanni, John Gluba Gebze, and Juharson Estrella Sihasale.
