Mount St Joseph Milperra - New House Mascots

We have just officially launched our new mascots. Each student belongs to one of six Houses. The Houses become a community within our MSJ community, and provide opportunities for developing friendships, mentoring and the expression of our Josephite values of: Acceptance, Loyalty, Action, Compassion, Hospitality and Wisdom. Our House names are inspired from our Josephite heritage and foundation. For more information please view our website. Our House co-ordinators asked Sr Jane to create new mascot illustrations for our houses last year. She was asked to use the house qualities, characters and make them ‘fierce’ - apparently she then imagined Beyonce! She started with hand sketches of the characters, then scanned them, asked for feedback, drew the characters digitally, more feedback, added colour and made sure they all had a similar ‘fierce’ yet loveable MSJ style. Each of the mascot graphics have our school shield in the background that links us all together. We are strongest when we celebrate our diversity. We hope you like our new mascots and enjoy watching the students launch them yesterday. These mascots are now yours ladies. We look forward to hearing how you would like us to use them! Isn’t it awesome what we can achieve when we work together #msjCanDoAnything #msjGirlsCanDoAnything #msjEvent #msjFaith —— FITZROY Mascot Name: Fitz House Value: Acceptance House Flower: Lavender Fitzroy House takes its name from an inner suburb of Melbourne and is historically Mary Mackillop’s birthplace.
