The Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Balashikha Garrison, together with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for Moscow and the Moscow Region, as well as the Balashikha Urban District Territorial Security Directorate, city officials from Balashikha and Reutov, and with the support of the Rosgvardia "Avangard" Special Purpose Police Unit, conducted a large-scale raid aimed at identifying violations of immigration laws. During the operation, 30 migrants from India and one from Tajikistan were discovered at an illegal hostel in Balashikha, Moscow Region. ▪️The scene that met the military investigators' eyes was shocking. In cramped, stinking rooms, dozens of people huddled on dirty mattresses with food stored under them. Overflowing portable toilets, trash-strewn corners, and dirty bedding—all of this was just the tip of the iceberg. But what's even more shocking is the juxtaposition of this eerie place with the grotesque luxury of the owners' residence. Spacious rooms decorated with stucco, the glitter of gilding and marble, stand in stark contrast to the illegally erected structure where the migrants lived. The head of the military investigative department, Colonel of Justice Yuri Valerievich Zimonin, commented on the results of the immigration raid: "Foreign citizens located in the Balashikha urban district were illegally brought to the police station for processing. Law enforcement agencies will consider prosecuting the owner of this illegal hostel and property for organizing the illegal migration. Citizens of the Russian Federation not registered for military service have been served summonses requiring them to report to the military registration and enlistment office." The owner of this "mini-castle" has a previous conviction for drug and precursor trafficking. One of the building's residents, a Russian citizen, barely reads Russian, yet holds a driver's license and drives a car. The hostel owners, it turns out, are not officially employed, which only adds to the confusion surrounding their activities. ▪️The owner's eldest son used security frames from the Presidential Property Management Department's motor transport unit and counterfeit passes from the Investigative Committee purchased on a marketplace. "It was a joke," he explains, but military investigators are serious; soon, the violators will have no time for jokes. ▪️During a search of the hostel owners' vehicles, stabbing and cutting objects were seized; their classification as bladed weapons has yet to be determined. ▪️The raid revealed serious violations of immigration laws and evidence pointing to criminal activity by the hostel owners. The Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Balashikha Garrison plans to strengthen enforcement of migration laws in the region and conduct additional inspections of facilities where illegal migrants may be present.
