The Final Alstom | Comeng 359M-1030T-360M

From 2018 to 2023, Alstom refurbished Comeng 359M-1030T-360M, operates across the suburban railway network. This train is one of the final stage 1 Alstom refurbished Comeng sets to be scrapped. Comeng 359M-1030T-360M entered service on the 16th of January 1983, to replace Melbourne’s aging Tait and Harris trains. On the 8th of February 2002, 359M-1030T-360M was transferred to Ballarat North Workshops for refurbishment before returning to Melbourne on the 1st of March and returned to service on the 20th of March. Comeng 359M-1030T-360M, received Stage 1 Life Extension refurbishment at Macaulay Light Rail Repair Centre in August 2019. The refurbishment included new bright yellow stickers on both fiberglass fronts and upgrades to driving equipment. The interior still contained old Connex seat covers, lighting, passenger display, and open walkways. Comeng 359M-1030T-360M was the last train to be transferred out of Tottenham Yard to Newport Workshops on the 3rd of May 2023 and the final stage 1 Alstom set to be scrapped.
