How to Install a Potter PS40 2 Low Pressure Switch on a Dry Pipe Valve
A step-by-step tutorial video showing how to install a Potter PS 40-2 waterflow alarm switch on a dry pipe alarm valve. How to test the switch using a multimeter. A Potter ps40 has a pressure range of 10-60psi (this is the range which the signal can be adjusted to come in between). Typically this switch is only installed on air systems (dry/preaction/possibly deluge detection lines), due to the pressure range you really would not install this as a low pressure supervisory switch on a wet system. For a wet system you would install a Potter PS120, but the set up of the switch is the exact same as in this video. The only difference is understanding the sequence of operations for the wet system to determine what pressure to set the PS120 supervisory signal. If you're interested in how to determine what pressure to set up a PS120-2 switch, I went into detail in the following link: • Fire Sprinkler System- Wet Alarm Check Val... 00:00- Changes made to the system 01:27- Sequence of operation- How do I know what pressure to set the low pressure supervisory signal to come in at? 04:45- Testing the switch on a Dry Pipe Valve with a multimeter 05:38- Electrical contacts inside the switch- what are they for? 11:40- How to set the low pressure supervisory signal to come in at the correct system air pressure 14:28- Testing the pressure switch with a multimeter & fine tuning the switch 16:38- Double checking/mechanically testing the switch Sorry for filming vertically... This is one of the first video's I've ever made so I'm kinda learning as I go with regards to filming and editing.
