The Used on the corporatization of music culture: "Lifestyle branding is bullsh*t!"
The Used chat with AP West Coast Editor Ryan J. Downey about music festivals and how they've changed over the years, including how lifestyle branding has marred them. "They're taking everything that's cool about people's lives and then selling it back to them for lots of money," says vocalist Bert McCracken. They also chat philanthropy, how to get involved and how they're using their art to spread a message much larger than themselves. "If philanthropy is becoming the 'next big thing,' then we're in a pretty good place," McCracken says.
