⁴ᴷ⁶⁰ Last Regularly-Scheduled Run of the R46s on the A Line!
The MTA has started disposing of the R46-type subway cars; iconic 70s-era equipment famous for its iconic Orange and Yellow interior seating. With the arrival of the R211 subway cars, the R46s are being progressively retired. The first lines to completely lose their R46s are the A and C lines. The last R46 A train operated during the evening rush hour on April 17th, 2025. Since then, no R46s have appeared on the A and C lines. This marks the end of regularly-scheduled R46 service on the A and C lines, with regards to timetabling. However, extenuating circumstances can occur which may warrant a short-term ad-hoc R46 A operation. For the time being, you can still find R46s on the G, N, Q, and W lines, as well as the Rockaway Park Shuttle. Enjoy this look at a classic piece of 1970s rolling stock and a historic moment as the era of R46 A and C trains finally comes to a close!
