The food safety and Codex Alimentarius standpoint on Antimicrobial Resistance
Antimicrobial Resistance is a real concern and can become a killer if we don't take action. Sarah Cahill, Food Safety Officer at FAO, and Annamaria Bruno, Senior Food Standard Officer at Codex Alimentarius Secretariat, inform that the food supply chain plays an important role in the dissemination of antibiotic resistant bacteria and that food is a potential route of exposure to resistant pathogens. The interview has been produced on the occasion of the webinar on Antimicrobial Resistance and the use of antibiotics in the livestock sector, organized by the FAO Livestock Technical Network in January, 2015. © FAO: http://www.fao.org
