5 Studio 263 Actors Who Have Passed On:Vimbai, Mai Huni,Muvengwa:R.I.P Anne Nhira

Charmaine Mangwende (Mai Huni) Charmaine Mangwende popularly known as Mai Huni in the local soapie Studio 263 passed away on 15 November 2018 after a tough few months in which she battled homelessness and poverty. Mangwende was reportedly being looked after by a stranger in Chitungwiza when she passed away. She looked after her for seven months but had appealed for Charmaine’s relatives to step forward as her illness took hold. Fellow actress Charity Dlodlo who played Mai Madziva in Studio 263 confirmed the death to the nation saying it was a great loss to the film industry. ‌ “Charmaine was always a jovial person and she would always make people laugh on set. Not only have we lost a veteran actress but we have lost a sister and a friend. It is also sad that with our industry in Zimbabwe great artists have nothing to show for the hard work they have done.” Nevernay Chinyanga (Muvengwa) Nevernay Chinyanga was a Zimbabwean actor mostly known for his role as Muvengwa in Studio 263. He was also a musician. Chinyanga died on 5 November 2010 in South Africa where he had been receiving treatment for diabetes and heart complications. His body was repatriated to Zimbabwe where he was buried. Pretty Xaba (Mai Muvengwa) Pretty Xaba was a Zimbabwean born actress who featured in some well known local productions including Studio 263. She was also a voice artist and a performer. Xaba was diagnosed with cancer. After her situation had deteriorated, local philanthropists including Walter Magaya donated money which was used to transfer her to India where she underwent surgery. The surgery however did not manage to prolong her life as she eventually succumbed to the disease on the 6th of December 2014. She was buried on the 24th of December in 2014. Anna Nhira(Vimbai Jari) Anne Nhira was a popular Zimbabwean actress, model, film producer and talent manager who rose to prominence in the early 2000s when she featured in the soap opera Studio 263. Nhira died in March 2021 from injuries she got during a robbery in Bedford View, South Africa. Benhilda Marume(Tamara) Benhilda Marume was a Zimbabwean actress who also rose to fame through her "Tamara" role in Studio 263, the popular Zimbabwean television drama series. Marume was born on February 7, 1982 in Bulawayo and she was the last born in a family of six, with two boys and four girls She passed away on the 12th of January 2013 at United Bulawayo Hospitals after a short illness.
