The Growler is an Electronic Attack variant of the F/A-18. This was a MAX power (full afterburner) catapult shot, where we achieve 170 mph and nearly 4 Gs in about 2 seconds. As you can see, the bow of the boat is stacked with jets. Catapult 2, the port bow catapult was down for maintenance, so we were using that real estate as a parking garage. This jam was filmed aboard the flight deck of the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) on a warm October day from the Northern Arabian Gulf. Fly Navy!
