(Report) A four-wheel drive unmanned pest control machine begins spraying pesticides. It moves diligently between the citrus trees, spraying chemicals wherever needed. In particular, due to the characteristics of high-density cultivation, it is capable of controlling pests even on branches and leaves that have grown and drooped downwards. It can be operated for extended periods using a rechargeable battery, and its convenience has been enhanced to the point where even women and the elderly can operate it. Its advantages include the ability to operate even on uneven ground and a wide range of applications, including transportation, which significantly reduces the burden of labor. It is expected to reduce the risk of poisoning caused by frequent pesticide spraying, as it can be controlled within a radius of 1 kilometer. This is because the burden of pest control operations has increased significantly, with the number of citrus pests and diseases in the Jeju region rising to over 20 species. Using an unmanned sprayer takes about 35 minutes to spray 1 ton of pesticide, so I believe it can bring about significant savings in labor costs." The citrus cultivation area in Jeju Province is approximately 20,000 hectares (ha), accounting for 30% of the total agricultural land area. It is estimated that deploying pest control equipment to 10% of the total area will generate an income increase of 112 billion won over 10 years.
