Oscar Niemeyer na Escola da Cidade

This is an unreleased inaugural lecture for the architecture course at Escola da Cidade, given by Oscar Niemeyer in 2002. In his lucid and insightful speech to young students, Niemeyer emphasizes the social function of architecture and shows, through sketches and images, some of his works such as the Pampulha complex and Brasília. The broadcast is part of the recovery of the archive of historical lectures held at the School. The project is carried out by Baú, an audiovisual laboratory that brings together students and teachers from EC. In addition to Oscar Niemeyer's lecture, lectures by geographer Aziz Ab'saber and architect João Filgueiras Lima, known as Lelé, will be broadcast this July 2020. Cover image: Ciro Miguel, 2002.
