Only overtake on country roads if it's essential and make sure that you can see plenty of road ahead before you do so. Don't overtake near bends. The national speed limit for a single carriageway is 60mph, but don't see this as a target. Drive at a speed that is suitable for the conditions and what you can see ahead. Be ready for bends that are sharper than they first appear. When driving on country roads expect cyclists, motor cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders. Slow down and give them space. Only overtake when you can see it's safe and don't overtake on bends. Part of your driving test might consist of driving on a single carriageway.
