1937年10月27日至11月1日，國民革命軍第88師262旅524團第1營將士受命死守緊鄰公共租界的四行倉庫，為了拖延日軍進攻速度，掩護大軍撤退。國軍以僅僅四百餘人抵擋日軍進攻數次，以血肉之軀保衛中國國旗來向民眾以及國際表達中國軍人還在，淞滬會戰中方雖然失敗，並損失國民革命軍近三分之一精銳部隊，但它鼓舞中國軍民的士氣，並向外界傳達中國積極抵抗日本的決心。 From October 27 to November 1, 1937, the 1st Battalion of the 524th Regiment of the 262nd Brigade of the 88th Division of the National Revolutionary Army was ordered to defend the Four Row Warehouse adjacent to the Public Concession in order to delay the Japanese attack and cover the retreat of the army.
