Essential IELTS Grammar: Subordinating Conjunctions vs Conjunctive Adverbs
English grammar can be really difficult to learn. It doesn't help that there are so many big words describing simple concepts. You might have heard of "subordinating conjunctions" or "conjunctive adverbs," but what's the difference? This sounds like it will be a super challenging lesson, but actually it's quite straightforward. Subordinating conjunctions are words like "because," "when," "after," and "while" that begin dependent clauses. In this video, I'm going to break it down into simple chunks so that you can understand everything about these parts of speech. This will help you avoid some really common mistakes that frequently affect IELTS candidates.
