"Yodelay" (official music video) // Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light

"Yodelay" is the title track from Rachel Sumner & Traveling Light's upcoming EP Yodelay, out June 19, 2026. Co-written by Rachel Sumner and Dinty Child (Session Americana), "Yodelay" is about having such a good night out that you decide to stay in that feeling a little longer. Instead of jumping right back into work or the next thing on the calendar when the sun comes up, it's about lingering in the glow of a great evening and appreciating life, love, and light. The song began with a chorus that came to Rachel before a show at Club Passim and was finished through a long-distance songwriting exchange between the two writers while attending separate songwriting retreats. Recorded at eTown Studios in Boulder, Colorado as part of the band's prize package for winning the 2025 Telluride Bluegrass Band Contest, Yodelay brings together traditional cowboy songs and original material exploring the tensions between myth and reality, rugged independence and solidarity, and performance and sincerity.
