The Simple Anchor Method That Makes Guitar Walk-Ups Sound Epic

I start with a G chord and use my pinky on the D note (third fret B string) as an anchor point that stays constant while I move through different chord shapes underneath it. The magic happens when that one note rings out over the changing chords - it creates this beautiful descending line that sounds super professional. I demonstrate two different approaches: first with simple strumming that has this rolling Americana feel, then with Travis picking patterns that really make it shine. The chord progression moves from G to a D/F# (with that F# in the bass), then to E minor, and back to the D/F#. What's great about this technique is that once you get comfortable with it, you can capo up and use the same moves in different keys. I play through both versions slowly so you can see exactly what my fingers are doing, then speed it up to show how it sounds at tempo. There's even a little impromptu song example about a baby catching a train eastbound! By the end, I add some connecting licks to show how you can embellish the basic pattern. This is definitely one of those techniques that's worth having in your arsenal - it works great for folk, country, or any acoustic style where you want that smooth, professional sound. 🎸 DVD Warehouse Blowout (💲Save $873 😲) - https://www.jimmydillon.com/dvd-blowout Connect With Jimmy Dillon On These Social Channels ▶️ YouTube Subscribe -    / @jimmydillon   👍 Facebook -   / jimmydillonguitarlessons   📸 Instagram -   / jimmydillon007   🕺 TikTok -   / jimmydillonguitar   🐦 Twitter -   / jimmydillon007
