TBA Author Interview with Abby Bloom
Dr Abby Bloom shares her journey of writing and self publishing her book, The Cost of not Caring, Working while caring in the age of longevity, published with Global Stories. Abby is a highly respected global leader in health, ageing and longevity. The author of several books on innovation, health reform, and commercialisation, she is also the co-founder of six companies and the chair or independent board member of many more. Abby was named one of the Top 100 leaders in the first one hundred years of Yale University’s School of Public Health. She was one of the first women admitted to Yale College and designed and taught Yale College’s first course in global health. She is an Adjunct Professor in the UTS Business School in Sydney. The Cost of Not Caring is directed at companies and those making policy decisions around all aspects of the caring responsibilities. As part of this Abby talks about the ‘club sandwich generation’, those people working and caring for 3-4 generations of their family. The book brings together research from five countries: the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ and includes a chapter on what leading companies do, A Quick Start Action Plan and a summary about working while caring in the era of longevity. Abby also discusses the concepts of longevity, healthspan, wellbeing, carespan, the longevity economy and the care economy.
