Agapi lives in every piece of dirt on the earth The cells of the universe her lashes and her lips and her skin and the moment of her birth Agapi is the sea and whales to the pearls the waves as they curl the winds as they whirl As butterflies emerge the ferns they unfurl the colour on the birds the rivers as the merge The singing of a dirge Athena’s Owl sitting on her perch the lost child’s return Agapi is the word Have you heard? Agapi is the surge in the isthmus our chants of resistance a chance at existence the stitches of the blankets that warm us in the winters Everything we are in an instant It’s in all that is and everything that isn’t the journey through our hearts on a search for forgiveness The black sheep and the herd frankincense and myrrh the blessings in the curses the lessons we’re yet to learn Agapi’s in the star that directs every sailor towards their true north on a search and a prayer It’s in the night sky and the bright constellations those spirals we find in our quiet conversations The building blocks of us the stuff that makes us up the cells in our blood the love that makes us love Everything below and above Everything below and above made of love Verse II Agapi’s in the mending of a bone that’s been broken the instinct to heal that exists in all our open wounds that we suffered now we hardly remember Agapi’s the bridge between our pains and our pleasures A seed in the desert waiting on a change in the weather the love between book and professor loose change and beggar survival and surrender the splendour of the sun set on that last day of December All that we cannot see, we begrudge all that’s dying in the dust everything we tried to trust everything they say to hate still made of this kind of love all that’s real or fake: the pigeon the dove New shoots gonna grow when you cut that tree enemies become friends when they find a bigger enemy the universe does bend according to destiny fueled by an energy that goes beyond just you and me We hang in the balance of gravity we gravitate to each other based on illuminosity we orbit around the sun cause it’s the one shining when we shine with Agapi love become reality.
