Upgrading the Hornby Intercity 125 HST | CD Motor, LED Lights and DCC

Converting a 1980's Hornby HST from an anlogue ringfield motor with basic lighting to a digital CD driver model with LED directional lighting. CD drive can motors offer much smoother control compared to the older ringfield motors and thanks to the upgrade kit from Strathpeffer juction the conversion is really easy. Whilst upgrading the motor it made sense to install a decoder socket so I could run this on the digital layout. At the same time I used the HST lighting boards from Black Cat Technology to replace the old style bulbs with new red and white LEDs that can be controlled using the decoder functions.
