Monika Martin, born Ilse Bauer ( Graz , 7 May 1962 ) is an Austrian singer of German-speaking folk music. Monika had her first stage experience at the age of 10 as an alley boy in the opera Carmen with the children's choir of the Grazer opera. Years later she started studying for solo singing at the University of Music and Visual Arts in Graz. At the same time she also studied art history and ethnology. She earned her tuition by performing with the 'Heart Breakers' from 1986 onwards. She performed with this band until 1992 and in 1990 recorded the CD Dafür dank 'ich dir ) with this group . These experiences formed the solo career, which began in 1996 with La Luna Blu. Monika got her own record deal in 1995 and had her first hit with La Luna Blu in 1996. With this title, Monika reached second place in the Austrian Primaries at the 1996 Grand Prix of the Volksmusik and became international number 6. At the 1997 Grand Prix of the Volksmusik , she reached second place in the Austrian primaries with the song Immer nur Sehnsucht and international again 6th. Here is my instrumental cover which was a request. I am using my 1960 Burns Sonic with the now famous Tri-Sonic pickups and new escutcheon plates and fresh wiring. A very neck heavy guitar.
