Culturele identiteit en historisch besef: Bruno De Wever at TEDxFlandersSalon

Prof. dr. Bruno De Wever is a historian and professor in Contemporary History at the University of Ghent. He zooms in on the interrelation of cultural identity and historical understanding. A pupil with Moroccan grand-parents has a different historic frame of reference and hears other stories than the grandchild of a Flemish pub owner. They use a different frame of reference to perceive the world -- past, present and future. How can or should history teaching take into account these diverse frames of reference, ergo the changing composition of the population? TEDxFlandersSalon 21 mei 2012 In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
