In the workshop with Ben 01. (Ben Harris & Co | UK based Traditional Boatbuilders)

In this video, traditional boatbuilder Ben Harris, and his team, are working on a 34-foot gaff cutter yacht called CONSTANCE. They started this new-build commission for their client in the autumn of 2019; photographer Emily Harris checks out their progress, observing various jobs going on at Ben's workshop, within 'Gweek Classic Boatyard', just outside Falmouth in Cornwall. – Ben shapes up some spar fittings, later to be fitted to the mast and spars he has made. – James fits the companionway steps also made by Ben, making it easier to access the interior onboard CONSTANCE, as she is fitted out. – Pete fits her skylight which is made from reclaimed teak, once part of the deck of a cruise liner. The lines for CONSTANCE were developed by Ben, in collaboration with naval architect Jack Gifford and were inspired by a Falmouth quay punt called CURLEW. For more information on CONSTANCE please visit Ben Harris & Co's website: https://www.benharrisboats.co.uk/ Ben Harris & Co Wooden Boats use traditional boatbuilding techniques to build (new) sailing yachts and traditional boats, restore motor and sailing yachts including building/restoring smaller craft – dingies and yacht tenders – as well as making masts and spars in their workshops.
