5 Mattress Brands ROBBING You Blind (And 5 Worth Every Cent)

Two companies own almost every mattress in America. They own the brands you trust, the "rivals" sitting next to them on the showroom floor, and as of 2025, the largest store you'd walk into to compare them. The mattress inside the $3,000 box costs a few hundred dollars to build. Everything above that is the logo on the tag and the salesman's commission. This video maps exactly who owns what, exposes the model-name trick that makes price comparison impossible, and names the five brands still worth every cent. Serta Simmons owns Beautyrest and Serta. Tempur Sealy, now rebranded Somnigroup International, owns Sealy, Stearns & Foster, and Tempur-Pedic, and in February 2025 it closed a ~$5 billion deal for Mattress Firm, so the company that makes the beds now owns the biggest chain selling them. The FTC voted unanimously to block it and lost in a Texas federal court. Then there are the five that don't play the game: factory-direct, one price, nothing to rename. This video is commentary and opinion based on public reporting, company press releases, and regulatory filings. Brand ownership and corporate structures change; verify before purchase.
