This local dialect word has led to the creation of a specific meaning for this performance. Therefore, the word "Yongam" refers to the beauty of Southern women's clothing, which is unique and distinctive. The concept for creating this performance arose from an interest in showcasing the beauty and identity of Southern women's clothing. This aim was to open the public's perspective on the dress of Southern women, not just the hijab or batik, but also other distinctive and distinctive styles. The creative team therefore conducted research on the dress styles of Southern women across three main cultural groups: Thai-Buddhist; Thai Muslim cultural group and Thai Chinese Malay or Peranakan cultural group to reflect the culture of dress and gestures of southern women. From the study, it was found that the dress of southern women is interwoven with beliefs, way of life, climate, society, religion and traditions. From the inspiration leading to the determination of the framework of the creative concept of the performance of the Yo Ngam set in the form of a southern creative folk dance performance. It consists of the Thai Buddhist cultural group, the Thai Muslim cultural group, and the Chinese, Malay, or Peranakan cultural group, expressed in nine distinctive styles that come together to create this unique dance performance.
