Zoran Schmitz Trio Plays - Black Orpheus / Manha De Carnaval

Our gypsy jazz trio performs Black Orpheus (Manhã de Carnaval), one of the most beautiful melodies to come out of Brazil’s bossa nova era. Originally composed by Luiz Bonfá with lyrics by Antônio Maria, the song became internationally famous through the 1959 film Black Orpheus (Orfeu Negro). Blending Brazilian samba and bossa nova rhythms with our acoustic gypsy jazz style inspired by Django Reinhardt, this arrangement brings together warm melodies, latin rhythm and improvisation. “Manhã de Carnaval” translates to “Morning of Carnival,” and the tune has become a jazz standard performed by countless musicians around the world. Its haunting melody and rich harmonies make it a favorite for both jazz and Latin music lovers.
