Professor Mitsuru Fukuda, Dean of the Graduate School of Crisis Management and the Faculty of Crisis Management at Nihon University, will discuss a variety of topics with faculty members of the graduate school. This time, the theme is "What is Terrorism?" Using the Tokyo subway sarin attack and Aum Shinrikyo, the 9/11 attacks and Al-Qaeda, and the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as examples, we will examine the reality of terrorism and counter-terrorism measures worldwide. We will also discuss Japan's crisis management policy, intelligence reform in counter-terrorism, counter-lone offenders, and the nature of global terrorism deterrence. For this event, we will welcome Associate Professor Hazuki Sasaki, who specializes in international politics and researches international cooperation in counter-terrorism, to share her insights.
