This is the origin of the name Parapat, a town on the shores of Lake Toba, North Sumatra, born from the last cry of a girl trapped by rocks: "Parapat... Parapat Batu..." Seruni, a beautiful and virtuous girl from a village on the shores of Lake Toba, fell in love with Sidoli, who promised to travel to raise money for their wedding. But fate had other plans. Her father, entangled in gambling debts, was forced to arrange a marriage for Seruni to marry the son of a debt collector. Seruni's heart was broken. Struck by deep sorrow, she went to the fields with her beloved dog, Sitoki — and unexpectedly, fell into a hole in the rocks on the cliffs of Lake Toba. When help failed to arrive and despair overcame her, the rocks began to close in... and Seruni was beyond rescue. His image is now immortalized as a rock hanging from the cliffs of Lake Toba.
