Iraqi President Nizar Amidi affirmed that Iraqi authorities will turn their attention to the issue of armed factions and security relations with Turkey following the anti-corruption campaign. In an interview with Al Arabiya, Amidi emphasized that there is no turning back on the decision to restrict weapons to the state, asserting that "controlling weapons is the most important issue awaiting the government." He also explained that Baghdad will address the issue of armed factions in a wise manner. He revealed that "Iran has received messages from Baghdad regarding the necessity of initiating negotiations on borders, sovereignty, and the factions." Furthermore, he stressed that there will be no retreat from combating corruption, which he considered no less dangerous than terrorism. He also indicated that the Iraqi security situation remains fragile. He noted that Iraq rejects the use of its territory to target neighboring countries.
