Color Vision 9: Melanopsin in the Eye
Melanopsin is a visual pigment that does not contribute to vision, rather it helps set Circadian (day and night) rhythms. It is not located in a Rod or Cone, but in a subset of Ganglion cells, which gives a clue as to the origin of Retinal organization.
