Mel surprises me with a stay at The Coal Exchange Hotel. A historic hotel in the heart of Cardiff Bay, South Wales. As well as a stay at the hotel we have dinner and a few drinks at their restaurant, Culley's Kitchen & Bar. The hotel dates from the 1880s and opened in Cardiff Docks as the Coal and Shipping Exchange when Cardiff became the biggest coal port in the world. The Coal Exchange closed in 1958 and coal exports came to an end in 1964. It reopened as a hotel in 2017.
