MZ RT 125/3 - Tank entrosten und Hupe anschliessen

This video covers another step in the electrical work, as well as the derusting of the tank's interior using citric acid. As preparation, fill the inside of the tank with screws (preferably those with many sharp corners and edges) and then shake it vigorously and continuously. If you have one, you can use a cement mixer for this. Wrap the tank in blankets and secure it in the cement mixer. Let the shaking begin! If you don't have a cement mixer or find this too much work, you can simply do it by hand. It's a bit more strenuous, but it achieves the same result. After removing the screws and the rust, I thoroughly rinsed the tank with degreaser (engine cleaner, acetone, silicone remover, or rubbing alcohol also work). Next, add the citric acid (from the drugstore) to the tank (1-2 packets) and fill it to the brim with warm water. I keep the water at about 60-65°C using an immersion heater. In a later step, after the dent has been repaired and the outside of the tank primed, the inside of the tank will be coated with a two-component product. I also connected the horn electrically and tested it.
