bandcamp link: https://sonicperfume.bandcamp.com/tra... made on a cold day in may. i'm deep into field recording at the moment. i'd just gotten my hands on a pair of new lom uši pros and took them into the woods nearby. on a remote meadow i captured the distant edge of the forest. birds, air, everything that lives in that space became the backbone of the song. putting on headphones in nature, listening through the mics, is like holding a magnifying glass up to your ears. the book sounds wild and broken by david george hasskell fed that same fascination — a way of hearing the world more closely. the instrumentation is deeply influenced by some folk artists i listen to at the moment (john prine, jesse welles, dylans early works). somehow the „magnified listening experience“ reminded me of my childhood music memories, in which prine and dylan shaped a good amount. as always at the start of a project like this, the urge is to make it perfect, and i hesitated before posting. i did it anyway. look closely enough and you'll catch me picking my nose a couple of times :) some scents which influenced this session: George Hassell - Sounds Wild and Broken (magnificent book on the nature of sounds, and the sound of nature): https://www.amazon.com/Sounds-Wild-Br...
