The 70th Commonwealth’s Memorial Day Ceremony at the Virginia War Memorial on May 25, 2026

The Virginia Department of Veterans Services held the 70th annual Commonwealth’s Memorial Day ceremony May 25, 2026, at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond, Virginia. Speakers included Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger, Virginia’s Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs, the Honorable Timothy Williams, and the Adjutant General of Virginia, Major General James Ring. Virginia War Memorial Director Dr. Clay Mountcastle served as emcee and patriotic music was provided by the 29th Infantry Division Fife and Drum. The 2026 recipients of the Memorial’s Marocchi Memorial Scholarships also were announced and introduced. It also included a tribute video from our three state veterans cemeteries in Amelia, Suffolk and Dublin, and the annual laying of wreaths in the Memorial’s Shrine of Memory-20th Century.
