“节哀顺变 (My Condolences)", choreographed by Cher Charmaine, was performed during Evocation 2023: Obvious Oblivion? at University Cultural Centre Theatre, NUS, on 5th April 2023. Item synopsis: Grief is a tricky thing; an emotion so overwhelming that we tend to push it aside. Because not acknowledging the death of a loved one seems much easier. Because saying that you are fine and you are okay is much easier than saying you're not. Because you're afraid that if you admit how much it hurts every second of everyday you will seem weak. But we grieve not because we are weak; we grieve because there is so much pain, sadness, and anger, and most importantly, love. Grief can't exist without love; I hope one day we can find peace in knowing that it's better to have loved and lost, than not at all. Song: In This Shirt Artist: The Irrepressibles
