Up in Central Park (1948) | When Vincent Price went a courting!

Up in Central Park is a 1948 Universal Pictures musical comedy based on the play of the same name by Herbert Fields with a screenplay by Karl Tunberg. It centres on the daughter (Deanna Durbin) of an Irish immigrant who falls for a newspaper reporter (Dick Haymes ) who is trying to expose corrupt political boss William Tweed (Vincent Price) in 1870s New York City. Following its LA premiere on 5 March 1948, it had its New York premiere on 26 May, then went on general release in the US. The musical is especially important for Vincent Price fans, as this was the film in which he met and fell in love with Mary Grant, the film's costume designer, who became his second wife and the mother to their daughter, Victoria.
