The Country Boys The Ash Grove Los Angeles, CA 04-1962 This set from the Ash Grove by the Country Boys, later known as the Kentucky Colonels, was recorded during mandolinist, Roland White's military service in West Germany. On this evening, Mike Seeger, a major force in old time music, folk lore, bluegrass, etc filled in with the band. The Country Boys met Mike when they opened for his band , the New Lost City Ramblers at Nashville. Mike Seeger was instrumental in getting the young Southern California several gig opportunities on the East Coast as well as getting them involved in the 1963 and 1964 UCLA Folk Festival.
