The journey to the ice factory, the unsung hero of Songkran, is reminiscent of the homecoming trips back home in Korea. I found the ice factory at the end of a road that had turned into a parking lot. Having hit the peak season, this place was filled with intense heat. Making, cutting, and moving giant blocks of ice as tall as an adult man! The ice, completed through the factory's hidden efforts, was dispatched to the Songkran site! Back on the street, I was once again showered with water. Immersed in the blessings pouring down from all directions, I fully savored Songkran. After a good splash in the water, it is only natural to fill your stomach! I headed to a romantic makeshift diner next to the nearby train tracks. It is a small restaurant run and cooked by two sisters. Meeting fellow chefs sparked a sense of camaraderie and curiosity about their kitchen. Asking for permission to enter the kitchen, I decided to try everything myself, from cooking to plating. From Pad Krapow Moo Sap (Thai-style stir-fried pork), Kung Chae Nam Pla (raw shrimp with fish sauce), to Tom Super Tin Gai (chicken feet soup)! Immerse yourself in the unique flavors of Thai cuisine. 2. A Place for Rest, Kanchanaburi ( 00:25:10 ~ 00:52:34 ) Continue your journey in Kanchanaburi, a place steeped in abundant nature and the painful history of the World Wars. Visit the famous River Kwai Bridge in Kanchanaburi. This place is part of the so-called "Death Railway," built by the Japanese military during World War II to plunder resources and transport war supplies. The section where the most casualties occurred during the construction of the 415km railway, which includes the Bridge over the River Kwai, was the Tham Krasae Bridge. Allied prisoners of war and civilians, armed only with pickaxes, hung from cliffs to carve a path through thin air. Approximately 100,000 people, including British and Australian troops, were mobilized for the construction at the time, resulting in their deaths. Even today, retired soldiers and their descendants continue to visit to remember that history. Now, life continues on the railway built with sacrifice. Carefully selecting brushes and colors, she fills the canvas... What kind of painting will Suda create? Next, I meet "Puping," a five-year-old baby elephant who performs adorable, swaying dances. Puping welcomes me with her whole body, dancing and giving kisses! In response to this enthusiastic hospitality, I offer a bath, which Puping loves the most. Washing her with tree bark soap and splashing in the water, we excitedly enjoy a Songkran water festival just for the two of us. Seeking relaxation in nature, I visit a unique accommodation. It is a hut deep in the jungle! The owner, an elderly gentleman, built this house by personally carrying scrap wood, and the cost was only about 100,000 won! From palm fruit showerheads and bamboo cups to leaf tablecloths, I spend a night in a house where everything is made of nature. The next day, I taste the best porridge of my life, prepared by an elderly couple, and explore every corner of the jungle. What I found in the yard were tea trees and pineapples!
