CHEMIN DE FER-MUSÉE BLONAY-CHAMBY

A visit to the Blonay-Chamby Museum Railway in Switzerland for its Steam Festival on 27-28th May 2012. This metre-gauge electrified preserved line runs for about 3km on the hillside above Montreux & Lake Geneva. At Blonay, the line has a junction with the MOB line from Vevey to Les Pleiades, & they occasionally runs special trains through from Vevey. The B-C line climbs steeply through Blonay past the halt at Chantemerle before swinging around a steep-sized ravine on an imposing viaduct. The line continues climbing steeply up to a short tunnel, from which it emerges to fine views of Lake Geneva & the halt of Cornaux. From here the line continues climbing to the station at Chamby, junction with the MOB Golden Pass line from Montreux to Zweissimen. Trains then reverse a short distance from Chamby station to the nearby junction & into the final stop at Chaulin Museum.
