Everything you need for in-home fresh air
Travis Brungardt walks through a comprehensive indoor air quality system in a high-performance home, explaining why tight building envelopes require intentional ventilation strategies. He showcases two ERV units that simultaneously bring in fresh outdoor air while exhausting stale air, maintaining pressure balance and preventing moisture issues. The system includes IAQ sensors monitoring VOCs from household products, automatically adjusting ventilation speeds when needed. A HEPA filtration system on the HVAC return provides continuous air scrubbing for fine particles, pollen, and smoke. The setup also features a dedicated makeup air system for the range hood, delivering tempered, filtered air to prevent pressure imbalances while maintaining comfort.
